London Trans Pride Portraits: Our existence is resistance

The project, London Trans+ Pride Portraits: Our Existence is Resistance, was born out of a moment of inspiration. It began in 2023 when I attended Trans+ Pride for the first time and decided to capture portraits using my much-loved Yasica TLR camera. The process of using this old camera, which required more preparation than a DSLR, fostered a unique emotional connection with the subjects, often strangers. This experience made it clear that the project could evolve into something meaningful. After capturing portraits during Pride 2024, the project became a platform for diverse conversations and community engagement. In 2024, I officially started this project to connect with the Trans+ community and document the essence of Trans+ Pride with a medium format camera.

Trans Pride Brighton 2025

Finally made it to Brighton Trans+ Pride this year and wow, it was beautiful. After two years of shooting portraits at LDN Trans+ Pride with my old TLR Yashicaflex, I decided to switch things up and bring my new (and very chunky) SLR Mamiya RB67. A 70s legend It's built for the long haul, I so love this camera.

This series means a lot to me, and I’ll keep showing up every year with a roll of 120 and a whole lot of love.
